Chinese Government to Make Huge Donation to LNP

The Government of the People’s Republic of China has pledged to make a huge donation of logistics and training opportunities valued at seven million to the Liberia National Police.

Making the disclosure one March 13, 2024 in a face-to-face meeting with the Inspector General of Police at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police, Hon. Gregory Coleman, Chinese Ambassador accredited near Monrovia, Yin Chengwu reassured IG Coleman of his government’s full commitment to relationship between the Liberia National Police and the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia.

Ambassador Chengwu informed IG Coleman that a Modern Digital Finger Print Laboratory Equipment for LNP is being imported from China and is expected to arrive in Liberian very soon.

He also added that a Human Resource Development Support for LNP is being arranged by Chinese government through Graduate studies at Universities in China and short-term specialized trainings for officers of the Liberia National Police.

Further speaking, Ambassador Chengwu also revealed of logistical support through donation of vehicles, motorcycles, uniforms and non-lethal weapons is being processed in promoting real time response and officer visibility around the fifteen counties.

For his part, IG Coleman lauded the efforts of the Chinese Government, adding that China has always remain a serious supporting partner to the Liberia National Police.

He added that this donation will greatly assist in improving the challenges already faced by investigators in tracking alleged perpetrators of crime, improving real time response to crime scenes and building the capacities of officers.

Hon. Coleman used the occasion to reaffirm the LNP’s commitment to maintaining the friendship at the same time assuring the protection of all Diplomatic Missions in Liberia.
