Over twenty one (21) participants from various institutions to include; The Liberia National police (LNP), Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) the Judiciary, Labor Ministry, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Ministry of Health respectively are currently undergoing a five day intensive training exercise on Trafficking in Person and Migrants Smuggling in Monrovia.

Speaking at the official launching ceremony on Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Headquarters of the Liberia National Police, the Coordinator of Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants Unit, from Leon, Paris, and lead facilitator, Mr. Adamou Liman Yahaya, extended gratitude to the United States (project donors), particularly to the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) for the project implemented by Interpol through Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants Unit (HTSM).

Mr. Yahaya further said, the specialized training on Human Trafficking is the beginning of a set of activities for the second phase which includes a simulation exercise and the training chain which will be finalized in September, 2024 with its Instructor of Development Course.

He assured the participants from various Institutions that the Interpol through its general secretariat will continue to help its member countries to provide more appropriate responses, starting with strengthening Inter-institutional collaboration and international police cooperation for the purpose of information sharing, dismantling criminal networks, identifying and assisting victims.

Making a special remark on behalf of the Liberia National police and proxy of the Inspector General, Hon. Gregory O. W. Coleman, the Commissioner of Police for Administration, Comm. Abruse M. Nebo, expressed thanks and appreciation to the INL and the Interpol counterparts from France for the unflinching and continued support to the security sector of the Republic of Liberia.

Commissioner Nebo, further urged participants to take the training session very seriously, not to only enrich themselves with certificates but to also practically exhibit the knowledge impacted.

Trafficking in Person is one of the global focuses of the International Community in rescuing victims who on a daily basis are falling prey to agents of Human Trafficking.
