LNP Arrest Notorious Armed Robber; Several Motor Bikes Retrieved

The Liberia National Police through its Anti-Robbery unit has arrested one of the notorious armed robbers who is the ring leader of series of armed robbery incidents in Monrovia and its environs.

Suspect Michael Sawoe, alias “One million” was arrested on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in the Pipeline Community, Paynesvile by the Anti- Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police.

During Police investigation, it was established that suspect Sawoe was the brain behind the recent armed robbery in the 72nd community in Paynesville on June 6, 2018 in which the security guards at the car parking lot were placed under gun point and five (5) motor bikes were stolen.

The investigation further revealed that Suspect Sawoe led the armed robbery at the main Campus of the University of Liberia on December 11, 2017 at 03:12hrs during which time they made away with One Million, four hundred, thirty two thousand, four hundred, ninety Liberian dollars  (L$1,432,490)

It was also established that suspect Sawoe also led the armed robbery at the God’s willing Gas Station located in the Careysburg Community on April 5, 2018 during the early morning hours at which time Victim Teah Bull and his Wife were shot and they made away with Six hundred thousand Liberian Dollars  (L$600,000).

Police investigation further established that suspect Sawoe was involved with the armed robbery attack at the Pipe-Line Turning point, Paynesville on January 17, 2018 at about 0330hrs during which time they put the security guards under gun point at the Car parking lot and made away with five (5) motor bikes and other properties. The Liberia National Police has retrieved seven of the stolen motor bikes that were made away with by the alleged criminals.

Suspect Sawoe has been charged with armed robbery which is in violation of Chapter 15, sub-chapter c, section 15.32 of the reversed Penal Code of the Republic of Liberia and forwarded to Court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police is calling on the victims of the June 6, 2018 armed robbery incident at the car parking lot in the 72nd Community to come to the Headquarters of the LNP on Capitol Hill with their valid motor bike documents to take delivery of their properties.
