LNP Charges Man, 36 for Manslaughter
The Liberia National Police has charged a 36 year old man identified as Hassan Kanneh, a resident of New Hope Community with manslaughter.
Suspect Hassan Kanneh was arrested on May 15, 2018 in the Peace Island Community, Jacob Town, Paynesville for stabbing his fiancée, Miss Princess Dwalo to death.
Police investigation has established that on April 6, 2018 during the night of April 6, 2018, misunderstanding ensued between he and his lover, Princess Dwalo over an extra love affair which may have provoked Princess to cut off his penis. In so doing, suspect Konneh retaliated by stabbing her in the middle of her chest which resulted to her death.
Investigation further gathered that while suspect Hassan and his girlfriend were in the altercation, the noise drew the attention of one of the tenants in the house who forcibly opened the door and noticed that the two partners were injured with the girl lying in a pool of blood unconscious while the boyfriend, suspect Hassan Kanneh was seeing subconscious with his penis cut off with the piece lying on the bed, a black handle kitchen knife stained with blood on the bed.
Suspect Hassan Kanneh told Police investigators that he cannot record what transpired between him and his girlfriend, the late Princess Dwalo in the bedroom on the night of April 6, 2018.
In view of the foregoing facts and circumstances, coupled with evidence adduced by a team of Forensic Technicians from Central Police Headquarters and witnesses’ testimonies, the Police have resolved to charge suspect Hassan Konneh with Manslaughter which is in violation of chapter 14, sub chapter B and Section 14.2 of the revised Penal Code of Liberia and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court for prosecution.
