LNP Makes Significant Gains in the Fight Against Crimes
As arms, ammunitions arrested
Following a vigorous operations by the Liberia National Police across the country in recent weeks, several criminals, arms and ammunitions were arrested by the LNP. The operation which was characterized by several Police tactics in cracking down criminals has made a significant gain. On April 28, 2018, one single barrel gun was discovered in a vehicle at one of the Police ‘’Stop and search’’ check points in the Parker Paint Community. Another single barrel pistol was also discovered in one of the suspect’s house.
During a press briefing at the Headquarters of the Liberia National Police on Capitol Hill, Police Inspector General, Col. Patrick T. Sudue told the media that the Liberia National Police under his watchful eyes will do everything humanly possible to minimize crimes across Liberia.
The Police Chief cited several gains made by the Liberia National Police in recent weeks. He named the arrest of suspect Jonathan K. Williams as prime suspect for the death of Liberian Journalist and reporter of Super FM, Tyron Browne who was discovered dead by the Liberia National Police on April 15, 2018 in the 704, Du-port Road Community, Paynesville.
Police investigation has charged suspect Jonathan K. Williams with Murder and Caesar Bill Kennedy with Criminal Facilitation and hindering Law Enforcement. Massa Kennedy, Alice M. Youti Edwina Youti and Joana Bracewell were also charged with hindering Law Enforcement and sent to Court.
Col. Sudue noted that on April 23, 2018, 750 single barrel gun shots were discovered in a transport vehicle at the Careysburg Check Point. He further disclosed the arrest of five suspected arm robbers, who were involved in series of arm robberies in the months of March and April, 2018 and subsequent retrieval of a Qsz 9mm gun marked EPS-6 assigned to Officer Armah K. Kamara of the Executive Protective Service who was victimized in one of the robberies.
Those arrested include:
- Musa Kamara alias ‘’Ladies Milk/Blow
- Joe Morris alias ‘’Borbor’’
- Surprise Welwolo alias ‘’surprise’’
- Leo Thomas alias ‘’Leo Jabateh’’
- Papie Washington alias ‘’Shaka’’
Hence, Col. Sudue disclosed that the suspects have been charged with multiple charges ranging from Murder, armed robbery and criminal conspiracy respectively.
The Police boss has also confirmed a shooting incident that occurred at Soul Clinic Junction on April 29, 2018 at 2300hrs, involving officer Roosevelt Demann of the Liberia National Police, Commander of the Zone 5 Depot 5 Police station located at the Tortoise base, Red Light, Paynesville, where a motorcyclist identified as Beyan Lamie was allegedly shot in his head by officer Roosevelt Demann.
Officer Damann also sustained injury and both of them were rushed to the JFK hospital where motorcyclist Beyan Lamie was pronounced dead while Officer Roosevelt Demann is undergoing treatment.
Police Inspector General Sudue promised that in-depth investigation will be conducted pending the recovery of Officer Roosevelt Demann from the Hospital.
An 85 –year- old man identified as James W. Dweh is said to be facing police investigation in Buchannan Grand Bassa County for allegedly beating on his 60 years old wife identified as Cecelia Dweh on April 28, 2018 that led to her death. Meanwhile, the Police boss calls on the public to work with the Police by providing information on any form of criminality in their respective communities and refrain from any form of violence and use the rule of Law as a means of seeking redress or justice.
