IG Calls on Non- state Actors to Desist from the Over Securitization of Public Place
Police Inspector General and Chairman of the National Elections Security Task Force (NESTF) Hon. Gregory O.W. Coleman is calling non- state actors to desist from the over securitization of public places as said behavior is counterproductive to peace. He issued the statement at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police where he was honored as father of Modern Policing.
Col. Coleman noted that the securitirization of public spaces is absolutely not the function of non state actors, but a national security issue. He disclosed that it was illegal under the law for citizens imposing as National officers which have the propensity of posing threats to the peace especially during the current political situation in the country.
He alarmed that some members who are loyal to the political Leader of the Coalition of Democratic Change (CDC) Amb. George Weah, were seen deployed in Militant posture few days ago at the Palm Spring Resort reportedly which created fear and pandemonium to residence of that community.
The Police boss Coleman averred that it is the full responsibility of the state to provide security protection for everyone and not individuals who are not allowed to do so under our laws.
He said he has concluded a security negotiation which calls for the reactivation of EPS to provide VIP protection for the two candidates in the Presidential run-off. He further stated that Amb. George Weah has been quite cooperative with this venture to assign EPS officers to provide him security protection in his quest to be statesman.
Meanwhile, Police Inspector General has re-echoed that he strongly resolute as Chairman of the National Elections Security Task Force(NESTF) will not slip off his feet to ensure Liberia enjoy a solid and lasting peace and not a fragile one is therefore urging every citizen to sleep sound.
The Inspector General Police is also strongly warning that anyone member of a particular political party is caught wearing T-Shirt belonging to another Political Party to provoke the anger of that Party, will be severely dealt with the laws. This act has the propensity to undermine the stability which the Country is not prepared for.
However the Police boss has reassured the citizens to remain resolute and peaceful that the election security mechanisms and strategies are still intact and under control.

He further stated that it is prudently gracious to gown a young Liberian and a true patriot who has committed his benevolence to the Liberian people amidst challenges in society.
